I am Jennifer Daunch. I have lived in Gulfport for 6 years, and I am running for City Council to make local government easier to understand and easier to access.
I spent years as a police dispatcher, where clear communication and calm problem solving mattered every day. That experience, along with my work in community development and code enforcement, taught me how to talk to anyone and help them find solutions that make sense.
If I do not know the answer to your question, I will know who to call. You will not get bounced around or left guessing.
Neighbors should not need insider knowledge to get help from their city. I believe in clear answers, quick follow through, and treating people with respect.
That is how I serve. That is why I am running.

While working with the City of St. Pete Beach, I created an education-first initiative called Code Enforcement Corner. Instead of focusing on mass enforcement efforts, this approach highlights a specific topic at a time and explains why certain codes exist and how they protect public safety, property values, and quality of life. The goal is to make ordinances easy to understand so residents can comply confidently and intentionally. This initiative was recognized on the spot by the Code Enforcement Manager for its positive, community-centered approach.

Jennifer took initiative to create a new campaign for code enforcement to help educate the public on compliance with debris removal and excessive plant growth. Jen also outlined a draft plan to annualize this education campaigns by month with different themes. Jens initiative is a great demonstration of our team commitments specifically high performance and accountabilityas well as empowerment and trust, and collaborationand shared purpose. Thank you Jen
FEMA’s Independent Study Program online courses in emergency management and disaster preparedness for professionals and the public.
My FEMA and NIMS/ICS training means I understand how cities plan for emergencies, coordinate resources, and recover responsibly. It’s not just about disaster response — it’s about leadership, preparation, and protecting residents and public resources before, during, and after critical events.
This campaign is truly neighbor-powered, and even a small donation helps us reach more people and keep our message moving across Gulfport. If you believe in what we’re building together, I’d be grateful for anything you’re able to contribute.
