Public servant. Volunteer. Proud Gulfport neighbor.
I’ve only lived in two cities my entire life—Cleveland, Ohio, and Gulfport, Florida. My husband Bob and I like to say, you don’t find Gulfport… Gulfport finds you. It found us six years ago after Bob retired, and from the very beginning, this community felt like home.
Gulfport isn’t just where we live—it’s our people, our routines, our favorite spots, and the place we show up for. That’s why I lead with one simple idea: community first, always.
I’m not running to be a politician. I’m running to be the person you call when you don’t know where to start. I’m your neighbor. I listen. I follow through. And I make sure problems get solved in a way that works for real people.
Gulfport found me. Now I’m ready to serve Gulfport.

Public service runs deep in my family. I grew up in a Cleveland Police household—grandparents, parents, siblings, aunts, uncles, and my husband all dedicated to serving others. In 2001, I became a Cleveland Police Dispatcher, a role that taught me how to listen under pressure, stay calm in chaos, and help people find solutions when everything feels overwhelming.
Dispatching trains you to be the first call—to assess the situation, explain what’s happening in real language, and connect people with the right help quickly. That mindset has shaped my entire career.
After moving to Florida, I dispatched for the St. Petersburg Police Department before transitioning into community development work in Treasure Island. There, I learned how city systems really work—and how frustrating and confusing they can be for residents. I used that experience to help Gulfport neighbors navigate post-storm recovery and city processes with clarity and confidence.
I believe local government should be approachable, responsive, and human. If you call me with a question and I don’t already know the answer, I will know who to call—and I’ll make sure you get a clear answer quickly, without jargon or runaround.
My extensive crisis-intervention training has given me something invaluable: the ability to talk to anyone. I know how to meet people where they are, listen without judgment, and work through problems in a way that actually makes sense. That skill matters just as much in everyday city issues as it does in emergencies.
Today, I work in St. Pete Beach’s Code Enforcement Division, helping keep neighborhoods safe while ensuring residents are treated fairly and respectfully. Outside of work, I volunteer, support local businesses and artists, and help organize community events—because being part of Gulfport means being present and accessible.
I’ve been lucky to be part of Gulfport’s playful, creative spirit—helping Bob during his time as Gecko Queen, organizing cash mobs to support small businesses, and proudly earning the unofficial title of “Prime Minister” to the Queen. It was fun, but it was also about connection, problem-solving, and making good ideas happen for the community.
That’s Gulfport. We show up for each other. We celebrate loudly. And we take care of our own.
This campaign is truly neighbor-powered, and even a small donation helps us reach more people and keep our message moving across Gulfport. If you believe in what we’re building together, I’d be grateful for anything you’re able to contribute.
Sign up to support Jen by being a campaign ambasador. This can include anything from knocking on doors, making phone calls or hosting an event.
